This original painting was used to create the Woodstock silk cache. Tom Dunne, long time Colorano illustration artist, created this classic rendition of a hippie couple embracing under a wet blanket at the end of the festival. This is the single most iconic image that ever came out of the festival. Dunne's rendition is painted in gausche. The printed cover is very difficult to find. It was printed in very limited quantities for a first day of issue celebration by the Post Office. This cover was never made available to the public. The art work is one of a kind, the cover was published in 1999 for the 30th anniversary of Woodstock. The stamp was part of the Celebrate the Century series of stamps.
This artwork was not used on the First Day Cover issued to collectors that year. It was only issued in very limited quantity to the Post Office. Colors are bright and clean.
